How do we build an AI-first EU? A roundtable with Arba Kokalari

The EU AI Act is partly on hold. The Commission has proposed postponing the heaviest requirements until 2027, and a revision is now under way in the European Parliament, led by Arba Kokalari as chief negotiator.

Wizardworks, represented by Magnus and Daniel, sat down with Arba together with representatives from HikmaAI, SaleSys, IFS Buddy and Klang.ai in a roundtable ahead of her work in Brussels.

The gap to the US

The gap to the US is clear. Not because we lack competence, but because we spend a disproportionate amount of time navigating regulation instead of building. And we love to build.

Regulation you can follow

Yes, the EU needs regulation. But it needs to be proportionate, understandable and designed so that European companies can compete, not just comply. For us, building systems with AI agents in regulated businesses, this is an everyday question: traceability, logging and human decisions at every step are things we already build in. What is needed is regulation that rewards that.
